Those of you who follow me on twitter and have me as a homie on facebook know that last week I posted a link to a blog on livejournal asking for donations for a single mom in dire straights. If you missed the follow up you should read that here. While this posts originated in a community that I’m purely a reader and not a contributor of, I still felt compelled to donate. As did a LOT of you. I was overcome with emotion when I read the final count of dollars donated.
The community at large on livejournal is pretty fucking amazing at times. I’ve seen them band together to help out people in so many situations it renews my faith in humanity. And though there have been scam artists, assholes and liars in some cases, overall the people continue to believe that people are true to their word, and are legitimately asking for help.
Well today I am asking for just that.
You know when you are friends with someone through other friends, but you really admire them for their positivity, strength, and good attitude especially when dealing with idiots? Well that is Magicpointeshoes. She and I have been in the same breastfeeding help communities for a long long time. She’s also an adopt_a_mom mentor, which is a community that partners ups brand new moms with veteran breastfeeding moms for one on one support. She’s been a fantastic mentor for new moms.
She and her beautiful family have really been trying hard, as you can read in her journal post. So please friends, take a moment, read her story and all the hard hard work that she and her family have been doing and if the spirit moves you to donate, or just leave a word of encouragement. Anything positive would be so welcomed this day.
